Just attach it to a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and turn to tighten, then turn until the stud is removed. The knurled roller uses cam action to automatically close to the right size and grip the stud tightly for easy removal. For removing broken studs and bolts from 1/4 in. to 3/4 in, 6mm to 19mm
